If it is simply "R" I find that odd. Will the next version be R2 or Rs or Mark II? If they do go with R2, R3, R4 wouldn't that be ShowBox an issue with Leica? I kind of remember that you can trademark model number within Mobdro a given segment/category. I assume Nox that is why Nikon was first and got the Dxxx while Canon had to do xxxD. Or am I completely off the mark?

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I guess that the only people that could answer your questions are the top people in Canon. The EOS R model maybe the only FF mirrorless camera that gets updated as technology progresses from Canon, or maybe it is the first model in a range of mirrorless cameras using the new R mount. Who knows. I would think that a lot would depend on sales.

Would the name duplication be an issue? Pentax produced a camera called the Q, latter, Leica also produced a camera called the Q.
