I have a Canon EOS M50 Mark II that I want to use with my smartphone. Really all I want to do is to use my smartphone as a remote for taking group pictures with me in it. I'm able to pair it with my phone using bluetooth easily enough, though there are several steps involved. However, as soon as the camera turns off, I am unable to reconnect to the phone after turning the camera back on. The only way I have found to work is to remove the connection from the phone and remove the connection from the camera, and re-initiate the pairing process. This is very tedious and is driving me crazy. On the camera, I first select the "Wi-FI/Bluetooth connection" menu option. Then I select the smartphone button. I see my phone listed with the bluetooth icon, so I select that. Then a message pops up "Manually connect via Wi-Fi to the currently Bluetooth paired smartphone. I am unsure what to use here, since I just want a bluetooth connection. If I hit OK, it goes to wifi setup which is even more tedious than the bluetooth setup, but if I hit cancel, it comes up with a message "Use the canon app/software on the smartphone." If I hit OK here, it just goes back to the "connect" screen with 5 icons (smartphone, computer, printer, cloud, and remote). If I go to my smartphone, to the camera connect software, I see my camera listed, and a reconnect button. When I push that, I get the choice of bluetooth or wifi. If I select bluetooth, It comes with a screen that says "operate camera to initiate the connection". But going through the camera doesn't do anything different. Is my setup just broken, or am I doing something wrong? My smartphone is an Android Moto G Power (2021) running Android 11 (model number XT2041-4). The firmware for the camera is 1.04.
