Hello everybody After a reverse 1½ somersault with 4½ twists which killed our Pentax bridge, we bought an EOS 600D (A.K.A. EOS Kiss X5 / EOS Rebel T3i) many years ago mostly for family vacation use. It was sold with a Tamron 18-200 zoom (f3.5/6.3) which did the job in most situations. On the other hand, I'm not amazed by this lens, not very expensive, neither very good. I guess I get what I payed for. Some times ago I had to use the 600D to film some rushes: mostly overhead DIY benchtop shootings and final product shoots, with the help of two daylight soft boxes. The Tamron Lens does not really shines in this uses. First the proper filming distance is not really easy to choose for an acceptable image quality, and the Tamron zoom does not catch a lot of light. I'm looking forward to buy a fixed focal lens. My first thoughts was to buy a 50mm (maybe a Canon EF 1.5 II), but I'm really not sure as a 35mm or a 80mm could also be used for this purpose. I would like the lens to shine on final product shootings, with a very short depth of field if needed. And also I want it to be sharp and bright on overhead benchtop shootings. Do you guys use this kind of setup ? What would be a good combo for this purpose ? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to hearing from you
