Hi, my G7X Powershot Mark II keeps me asking to set the date and time. It's because I had to recharge the battery, I suppose. How can I fix this? Does the G7X Powershot Mark II has an internal clock memory or something that should be changed? If that's the case, what the specification so I can order online? Does anybody had the same issue? Thanks!
https://www.reddit.com/r/canon/comments/9ojhcm/canon_g7x_mark_ii_always_forgets_date_settings/ sounds like it uses a capacitor that maintains a charge off the battery as long as that does not die you should be good. But if the capacitor dies, there is not much you can do.
I have replaced capacitors before to fix electrical equipment. I have no idea about this fix in a camera. Gary
Thanks, guys. I don't know if it's a capacitor or another battery, maybe a clock battery thta is capable of maintining the date and time settings when the battery is out of the camera to recharge. Are you sure it's a capacitor? Thanks for the fast reply!
Well its usually the way many P&S cameras handle holding a charge for a short time while battery is recharging and it its easier than designing a button cell replacement slot which if it had one you could replace you would see the screw holding the drawer in, probably in the battery compartment or cable connection area. No drawer I would say the capacitor is a safe assumption. So if the camera does not get a charge off of the freshly charged battery you may have to unfortunately resort to setting the date every time.
I'd like to know too, it's surprising that in 8 years nothing has been posted on the topic From page 21 of the manual, it IS a battery
