I've had a 50-year "love affair" with Pentax equipment. And I still use my two old Spotmatic 500s for fun! I'm registered with various Pentax forums. But in 2018 I realised that I wanted to adopt mirrorless cameras for a range of reasons. Pentax has made it clear that they are staying with dSLRs, so I had to choose a new system. As a result of Canon's announcements in July 2020, I've adopted Canon RF-Mount equipment, cameras and lenses: Canon R and Canon R5 cameras, and various Canon RF-mount lenses. My photographic interests are air-shows; motor-sports (cars and bikes); wildlife, including birds-in-flight; landscapes and interiors; portraiture; (etc). (Unfortunately, opportunities for these in 2020 have been limited). I don't carry a phone, so I don't use one to take photos. My carry-everywhere camera is a Ricoh GRIII. It hangs off my belt.
Hello Barry and welcome to the forum. I think that you will find that there are a few other Pentax camera users here including myself. I have the same thoughts about mirrorless so I have drifted away from Pentax a little. I am looking forward to seeing some of your images. Gary
Thanks for the welcome! I don't know the rules. Could I simply post a photo or two to this thread? (Because of lock-downs, etc, I haven't done a lot since I received the equipment over the last two or three months).
G'day Barry, Welcome to the forum. I started with Pentax but now use both Canon and Pentax. Yes, please post a few images here. I am sure we would all like to see some of your work as you have a wide range of interests.
First, I'll make some excuses! I intend only to post photos taken with Canon equipment here. Because I only decided to start using Canon equipment at the start of August 2020, and it is (still) taking a long time for all my equipment to arrive, and the pandemic has wiped out all my normal types of photography in 2020, I have very few useful Canon photos to post here! I will post a few Canon photos that I have later in this thread, but first I'll illustrate my photography with links to various (freely available) sources: Galleries of some of my photos over the years My first significant photographs taken in 1963/4 while I was at school Thumbnails of my panels of prints for my two 2001 "Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society" qualifications Thumbnails of my set of prints for my 2013 "Credit of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain" qualification (I am developing one or more new websites for my photography. This is "work in progress"!)
I think that we are all struggling with some sort of lockdown. But I think the best place to posting photos is in the 'post your photos' section. Start a new thread and away you go. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your images. You may have to resize your images, but see how you get on. Yell out if you have any problems. Gary
