Hi there. I am just a simple amateur. In general not too picky with gear as long as pictures come out well and tell a story. Lately however I have felt the desire to do something to upgrade again as I have done a few times. The last couple of years my DSLR camera hasn't really seen much use as I have not been too satisfied with the quality of the imaging. So instead of hauling the DSLR around I have used my small IXUS pocket camera and the eversoconvenient camera of my phone. So one of the reasons to sign up here is to learn and maybe analyse what to do gearwise ... even if the IXUS and the phone do their jo quite well I miss some of the functionality of the (D)SLR concept, most prominently the ability to change lens depending of the motive and situation.
Welcome to the forums Tipiay! I responded to the other thread that maybe you have a gear issue, which is hard to say because i dunno how long you had it or how long its been acting the way you indicated. It does sound like it may be time to get something a bit newer and better given the age and specs on that gear. Generally you can easily buy anything made since 2015 and it will probably be great as long as it wasn't heavily used by the prior owner should you pick something used. Every camera brand has a few models of camera with quirks so research known issues with whatever you are looking at. If you want to keep with a new dslr there will be plenty of higher end lenses that should continue to become cheaper over the next years. Everything has mostly pivoted the last few years to MIRRORLESS and the R cameras and RF mount which is slightly lighter than the dslrs but has many of the same price ranges and feature sets of the dslr line but now has no mirror/prism, so your using an electronic image in your viewfinder. I guess it depends on how much camera you want to get in an upgrade and how much of a budget you have to do so.
Hello and welcome to the forum. It depends on what you tend to photograph, and what you are, or not happy with. There is the M series of cameras that are being superseded by the RF mount. If you are happy with a small mirrorless camera that you can pick up used. I am not sure about the lens selection with this mount. And there is the RF mount. You have the choice of different bodies as well as a growing selection of lenses in this mount. Plus, you can use older EF lenses via an adaptor on these cameras. Gary
