Just to introduce myself - Marcus Rowland, retired lab technician and author (mostly of role playing games), resident of London, UK. In the seventies and early eighties I did some part time work for Morgan Cameras, a London used camera dealer, so I've seen a lot of strange gear in my time, especially at the vintage end of things. My main interests are scientific and nature photography, macro and micro, occasional pictures for Wikipedia, etc. I currently trade cameras and lenses on eBay, so I'm still coming across lots of weird stuff. Up until about ten years ago my main camera was a Canon F1 - when I finally went digital I switched to a Nikon D50 because that was what was affordable at the time, and that's still my main SLR, with five or six lenses. But I've recently bought an old Eos 300D with 28-90mm lens which I'm primarily using to test lenses from a variety of other manufacturers - it's much easier to adapt lenses to Eos than to Nikon, because of the wider throat and shallower body. I like this enough that I'm considering switching to Canon as my main camera system, the main thing putting me off is the cost of switching. I hope that I'll be able to contribute to the forums, especially if I do end up switching systems, but probably won't post very often.
