    Hi folks. First post.

I primarily use a Sony A7RV for wildlife but I've recently started to get in to Motocross and car photography.

I am going to go for the 70-200 f4 is usm lens but unsure what camera. The 7d mkii fits the bill or the 80d. That's the budget I have.

    Any suggestions folks?

    Thanks

    5dMk4, 5dsR, 5dMk2, 20D, 70-200 2.8L IS, 100mm 2.8 Macro USM, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 17-40mm 4.0L, TS-E 24mm 3.5L II, Rokinon 14mm 2.8; Pixma Pro-100
guessing the budget is $400-500 used?

80d would probably be my personal choice with the newer processor and things like articulating screen and wifi. 7dmk 2 is 2014 two years old and does have a few things like 65 vs 45 focus points, and actually if motor sports is your thing, the 7d2 having more focus points and a faster fps at 10fps vs the 80d at 7fps may be the reason to grab the older 7d2.

All this being said, the 70-200 I cant imagine using for motocross without the 2.8, i mean you'll be shooting north of 1/1000 sec anyway so the IS is not a huge deal.

Thanks Johnsey. So you wouldn't bother with the Is?

Yes that's what makes the 7dmkii appealing. I will be doing all of my shoots through the day so dont really need the 2.8.

    2nd hand market yes lol

I mean "I" would as I like being able to shoot the lens at 1/100 of a sec handheld. I just was saying it wont probably make a difference if you shooting a high shutter to freeze fast moving subjects, but at a higher shutter you may want the 2.8, and the small depth of field would be nice for some motorsports shots. I personally saved and forked out for the 2.8 IS version II back over a decade ago, great lens but a bit of an investment.
