Hi Everyone, I did have a grand plan to make an intro, and go into what I'm doing etc etc, but that just needs to go on hold for a minute. I need help. I have a canon 5d M3 and I am thinking of buying a Sigma 50-500mm Lens. Do I need a mount for it and if so what sort? thanks in advance.
Welcome Michelle! As for the lens I believe they have a few versions of it, but i think they are all EF, the key is the mount needs to be an EF mount. You will have to double check. You will not really be able to adapt otherwise, this lens will be made in mounts for other cameras since its sigma, don't get a Nikon or Sony version. Also you own some EF-S mounts already so you probably know you can't adapt the smaller lenses up to a larger camera mount.
Michelle, the 5D Mark 3 is a really cool camera. what sort of mount does the Sigma lens come with, can you put up a image of the lens's mount, that's the bit you stick in the camera. With this image we can assist with the selection, as Johnsey has written you will need a EF mount.
