How to change exposure quickly with Canon Eos 5

Please can you help me with how to change exposure quickly. At present I am going into menu to change it which is too slow for wildlife photography.

 

Are you referring to a Canon EOS 5 (film camera) or EOS 5D or EOS R5 ?

 

The Canon Eos R5 is the one. I use it for wildlife photography with canon RF 100-500 lens. I have had it a few months but I'm not sure easiest way to change exposure quickly as camera before had an exposure dial. Thank you!

 

I have my R5 set up with the dial new the shutter button for shutter speed the dial at the top back set for ISO and the main rear dial set for aperture.

I change my exposure by turning one of the three dials I mentioned.
What mode are you shooting in? If you’re not shooting in manual are you trying use exposure compensation, is that your question?

 

Welcome to the forum, Sally. For this situation, I have my camera in shutter priority, all I have to do is select a shutter speed and the camera does the rest. May I also suggest you have a look on youtube as there is some excellent vidios on wildlife shooting , watch 3 or 4 and take in what they have to say. This should give you a few ideas.

 

Thanks I tend to use manual mode most of the time. I can change exposure quickly by using the lowest dial when in aperture mode and shutter mode but I cannot see how to change exposure compensation quickly if in manual mode

If you're shooting in manual mode exposure compensation doesn't work, you have full control.
If you're shooting in auto ISO mode you can set one of your dials to exposure compensation.
Hit the Q button select the camera icon, customize dials and then select the dial you want and select the +/- icon in the menu.
Hope this is what you're looking for.
You can also select the control ring on the lens for this but I find its placement on the 100-500 difficult get to quickly.

 

Thank you. I have been using manual focus with ISO auto so I will have a look at what you suggest. I can see from the previous replies that I could try shooting more in shutter mode and then I could easily change exposure compensation with the bottom dial. Very grateful for all the advice received.
