I have a 5d mk4 and was trying to shoot the moon

    I found my camera in several modes showing a round circle in the eye piece and not shooting, this was despite me trying to put it into spot metering mode several times.Please help

    My advice to you would be to put the camera in manual mode for starters. I would also switch to manual focus and use live view and magnified 10 ten times to get good focus. I would then try different ISO's as well. In manual mode, try adjusting your shutter speed and aperture until you get an image that is not over or under exposed.

    What sort of lens are you using to photograph the moon?

    TYVM!! a canon 70-300mm nano usm, I actually got some great shots doing what you said! BUT I just wanted to learn about the different modes and how those modes effected the photo, but when trying those modes a circle was in the eye piece in stead of the dot that is single point focusing and despite me choosing single point focussing that circle refused to go, and the camera would not shoot, thank you again for your reply!
