I'm using my old EF70-300 mounted using an adaptor to my new R5 camera. I'm getting good images with the lens, but it has a tendency to continually try to focus, even if I'm not touching the shutter release. I have to turn the camera off to get it to stop. Anyone else seeing this or have suggestions for how to resolve? Thank you.

I suspect you have "Continuous AF" selected.
