Hi everyone, I just bought an old canon A400 powershot. Suddenly the lcd display screen started having these white artifacts as shown in the attached image, meaning it is very difficult to take and see pictures using the lcd screen. If anyone knows what the problem is and the fixes needed I would greatly appreciate it
LCD screen is starting to wear out, you would have to take it apart and put a new one in. Honestly 20 years is a good run.

Well most electronic repair runs about 60-100 bucks in labor an hour if you find someone who will pull it apart. I think the lcd would be very cheap (10-20 bucks) but doubt there is stock anywhere. Sadly I looked online and prices are a bit silly. I honestly think the camera is worth like $20 since its only 3 megapixels and its age. I see a few completed auctions this year on ebay more in the $40 price point if tested and working for those A400, more listings than complete though so they are not selling regularly. Facebook is even more ridiculous, most people want 70-100 bucks no matter the model of old point and shoot or its megapixels, most of the options there are noticeably newer and around the 10-12 megapixel mark which places them like 2010 -2013 models. My advice would be that you can shoot with it till it dies completely and keep an eye out to replace it for 30-50 bucks. I expect a repair to be close to 100 bucks with parts and labor and i have no idea who would take it apart. Probably a do it yourself guy out there. I would maybe get something a little bit newer and with a few more megapixels in it. The tech advanced pretty quick and should be more durable that the very very early models. Still I would say you should be able to find a noticeable upgrade at that price point $50 if you shop around comparing what is available. These cameras all sold for under 200 brand new 15-20 years ago and there is very little market pf people buying so the prices are generally just very optimistic since there is not selling pressure.
