Okay, as we all know, once you buy some new gear, you have to play with it and see if it lives up to your expectations. After picking up the 1.4 (II) extender, we managed to get out for a days trip out into the mountains. We stopped off at Otira where there are Kea's, and as luck would have it, they were near the car park. The day was pretty windy, so standing still was pretty well impossible. But I grabbed a few shots just to see how the extender and lens worked out. I was using my PR with a EF 400 f5.6 L. The camera worked fine. It would autofocus without any problems, and worked just fine with a f8 aperture. I was pretty impressed. Yes the last image has some motion blur, but I am more than happy with the outcome.

Gary, your extender/ lens combination has worked well, these iconic birds look great.

Great shots, Gary. Looks like a very usable combo. I'm sure that there will be lots more images to come.
