Hi, I'm looking for an excellent 35mm lens. I own a Sony Alpha 7RII, so the natural choice would be the fabulous Sony Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4. However, that's quite some cash & I would actually prefer something manual, bit old style (but still very good optical quality). Any suggestion? Anything to sell?

Well if you looking for good 3rd party options the Sigma ART lenses are known to be quite good, and made in all major mounts. They have a 35mm 1.4 you could research at $900. Also Rokinon/Samyang makes some pretty decent manual lenses that are quite fast, they have a 35mm 1.2 you could research priced around $500.

Ah yes, thanks. The Sigma ART seems to be a really good piece of glass! https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sigma-35mm-f1-4-dg-hsm/5 Only thing: the adapters sigma to sony add quite a bit o bulk & are a bit hit and miss, I've heard. I'll check out the Rokinon / sSamyang - manual sounds good. Many thanks!

Sigma Art + MC-11 is very decent on A7rII actually. You can also check out Zeiss Loxia 35/2. Native, image quality of Zeiss, manual focus but EXIF info and aperture control.
