M6mkii shoots 100fps if 'high frame rate' enabled. BUT .. in my editor..( Resolve ) it is seen as 25fps in the metadata...Mediainfo also says it's 25fps?
If it's anything like the M50, basically it shoots at 100fps but then saves the clip automatically as 25fps, what this means is if you record a clip 1 minute long at 100fps the camera saves it as a 4 minute clip at 25fps. The camera produces you a slow motion clip automatically.
Hmm..I'm not suret hat makes sense to me...it's either 100fps or it isn't . The camera can't sae it as something it isn't? It's a total pain in the edit because I can't see straight away which shots are 25, which are 100? They all show as 25?
Have you watched your 25fps clip? Is it 4x slower than that your original shot was recorded at? If you take your 25fps clip and quadruple the play speed in your editing software does it play at normal speed? It's really not rocket science. The camera automatically turns your 100fps clip into a 4x longer 25fps clip to drop straight into your timeline. This is supposed to be a helpful tool built in by canon to reduce the amount of editing work you have to do, I mean why would you record at 100fps is you didn't intend to reduce the frame rate to say 24, 25 or 30 so that you actually get a slow motion clip? 100fps would be pointless as a standard frame rate. Most people produce cinematic videos in 24 or 25 fps for the smooth camera movements which more accurately represents what the human eye naturally sees. I was confused by this same question when I recorded my first High frame rate clip on my M50. I simply googled my question (which was practically the same as yours) and was presented with the answer which I gave you. Bearing in mind that this is an assumption based on my experience with the M50. I have never used a M6ii.
The clip is 100fps ...I know it is. I know how to use it. Im really not sure where you got the idea that I’m NOT using it to create slomo. The issue isn’t how I’m using it...it’s about the metadata. I don’t understand why the metadata shows it as a 25s clip when it isn’t. 50fps as 50fps . 25 as 25 ..so why 100 as 25? I have other cameras that shoot high frame rates and they show in the NLE media pool as the SHOT frame rate. Why does M6ii high speed stuff not show as 100fps. Makes no sense.
Please upload your unedited/unmodified/straight from the camera clip to YouTube as an unlisted video and share the link to it here or send it to me privately so I can see it exactly as it comes from the camera. Cheers
