There is a faint ring on the touch screen display at the center of the screen. It wasn't there a minute ago, and I can't figure out how to turn it off. What does it mean, and how do I turn it off? I've probably done this before but I can't remember how to fix it. Any help appreciated.
you probably changed the metering mode to either spot or partial metering, the other two, evaluated and center weighted dont show a faint circle, i use spot 99% of the time you can use the Q-set button in the middle of the D-pad then its the fourth on the left, (M50) i think the control for this is also a button on the d-pad but i moved mine around a bit, if its something you don't ever change you could reassign that button to something else, its one of the reasons i swapped mine around, i was hitting one accidentally to often you can reassign buttons in the yellow wrench menus,
Thanks for that, but I don't think that's the problem. I use spot metering for snaps of people and wildlife, but average over the whole image for landscapes and buildings, especially when against a bright background. Maybe the circle has always been there, and I just imagined the whole thing. Anybody else have a display without the ring?
Link to your google drive was removed, it was broken or not sharing correctly, You can use screen snippet and copy the image into you text box on the post and then it will display and upload that sample image. It will be easier than linking to somewhere else.
only ways i can make it go away is by going into video mode, full automatic mode (A+), scene mode, for M, P, Tv and Av its there, its faint enough its not a bother at all
OK. Thanks. Maybe I just imagined it. My EOS M50 is back with Canon at the moment. It got a bit damp. I thought it would be OK under a transparent plastic cover, but then the screen started turning off. Thought it would be OK after a few days of drying out, but then I took a couple of photos and since then whenever I activate the shutter I get a muffled sound instead of the usual clunk, and no photo.
