I took this at our local lake on an early morning walk. They are found in Australia, and other parts of the western Pacific. In New Zealand the species is known as Kotare. 7D Mark II | 1/1250 sec | f/6.3 | ISO 1600 | 400 mm | Manual | Spot | Lens: TAMRON 18-400mm
Thanks Gary. They're quite a small bird so they are probably about but I don't see them as often as I should (old eyes!). NT is a bit warmer than NZ!
They are pretty fast on the wing as well. Beautiful colouring. But yes, a slight change in the clothing since moving here. I liked my time in the tropic's, but towards the end of it, I was sick and tired of the heat. I work outside a lot of the time. There are things I miss from living there, but we are happier living here. So it was a positive life choice. Gary
A wonderful wildlife image. Most impressive sir and a million thnx for sharing. So sharp even at that distance. Tony
For some reason I haven't been getting email responses from the forum Tony, so I missed your reply. I'll have to delve deep and find out what the issue is.
