Hi. I’m a total newbie, and I’m sorry if this is an age-old question. I have had an M6 Mark II since February. I bought it primarily to shoot at auto races. Well, COVID hit and my next chance is this weekend. I knew my kit lens needed an upgrade, so I snagged an EF adaptor and bought a 70-300mm Canon lens from Best Buy. I was getting it out of the box this evening and was just inspecting it. Haven’t used it yet. I noticed what seems to be a fairly large scratch inside the lens. I’ve verified that it’s not a reflection- it doesn’t move when I turn the zoom. It seems to definitely be a scratch. The racing event I’m hoping to shoot is this weekend, and I am curious- should I see if Best Buy will exchange this lens, or am I being overly critical? For $500, I guess i expected perfection- but perhaps that’s not needed? Not sure how this would impact the quality of photos.
Not overly critical, you should exchange it if it comes not perfect, that's what 15 day return policy's are for.
