I’ve a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV camera & I've noticed when shooting in jpeg & in the Al Servo mode my shutter burst rate is not the 10 frames per second as it should be. But when I switch to One Shot mode it is definitely churning out its usual burst rate. Any suggestions. Thank you
I was going to mention that this is not really a huge surprise given the nature of AI servo. In single shot it locks focus once and is done, Ai mode will continually grab focus to improve tracking of moving objects. It makes sense to slow the camera burst mode down slightly to improve the focus tracking capability in this mode.
Welcome to the forum, Jagmohan. I have a 1D Mark3 and have noticed a similar thing and I agree with Johnsey's reasoning
I've always wondered how you can test for how many shots are taken in burst mode per second. Is there a way to accurately get this figure?
I imagine you could use some higher end audio equipment and tell using software to see how many clicks register in the histogram each second. Not sure what this test would look like but thinking that would be the direction to look.
Thanks for that - thinking outside the box. Maybe the recorder on my phone will be good enough - I'll give it a try and check the noise pattern. I would have hoped that if Canon claim 7fps that they would have some way of determining that fact.
I just completed a test for counting the number of shutter actuations per second on my Canon 7Dii which claims 10 FPS. The results confirm that Canon (this time) have accurately stated the correct number. Thanks johnsey! worked a treat.
