    I just want to throw out a couple of ideas for you.

    My personnel preference is the other sparrow hawk image you posted because of the birds posture.

    I find that there is a little too much space around the hawk, so I hope that you don't mind, but I cropped the image to a square crop, just see what you think. I have removed some of the dark part on the right hand side.

    Another option for you would be to rotate the camera 90° and take the image in portrait format. If possible, if you have a longer lens, use that. Lastly, and this one is not always possible, but look past your subject and look at the background. For this image, if the hawk didn't move, and you took a step to the left you would have a dark background, and a step to the right, you would have a light background.

    Thanks Gary if I had done all that the bird would have been miles away The crop is good I dont like to much alteration I like to see the photo unadulterated But thanks Kevin

    You are right about the bird being very skittish. One and only time I did see the bird outside my bedroom window, I had to really rush the process of taking a shot as if my life depended on it. I have not seen them again to this day. At first I confused it to Coopers hawk and some one corrected it.
