I'm hoping someone can offer advice for using an ND1000 filter with a Canon 80D. I've not long had the camera and believe I have to use the bulb setting to enable a time exposure of >30 seconds. After I setup the composition of my shot and dial-in my settings, I attach the ND filter (magnetic) and use a canon remote shutter release. However, the camera wants to focus again before releasing the shutter but cannot, due to the ND1000 filter. I presume I'm missing something basic but don't know what. Can anyone advise?

What happens if you set your camera to manual focus?

You select the focus point manually and not let the camera autofocus, attached the filter, and then shoot the image in bulb mode?

same reply, auto focus or manual without filter then switch to manual focus, if you not on fully manual you might want to lock in exposure too?
