It appears as though I am still losing color and sharpness upon transference. IMG_1881 (2).jpg

Thank you very much. There is a difference between this upload and the original which I uploaded into Photo Editor 10 that came with Windows 10. Not sure what to do about it.

    Best,

A beautiful flower, Tony. Nothing wrong with either colour or sharpness on my 23" Dell monitor. Looks better at full size though. And that is the same for all images that I upload here.

I see what you are saying. I tried uploading and then resizing or downsizing and the photos do appear to retain their sharpness and some color. Perhaps I need to do more experimentation with this Canon gear and see what happens. Will report. Adios. Tony

I have done some checking on some of the images I have uploaded here. I always directly upload images rather than uploading to a gallery.
Then I click on on "Full image". The image shown in the post is downsized and that is to be expected and the quality appears to suffer. If you click on that image it does enlarge and it looks a bit better but it is still not at original image size.
I have a Photoshop action that creates landscape format images as JPGs with 2048 pixels across. The "full" size images displayed here are NOT that size. I don't know what size the images are that you have uploaded but from what I have seen I am thinking that they are smaller than mine.
I haven't looked here for any tips on what size images to upload. I will consider how I handle this issue in future.

Mine are almost exclusively at: 1080 X 710. I need this for several photo sites that I belong to. For example, gurushots.com. You might want to take a look at this site. It is a lot of fun as it offers challenges (contests) that actually offer prize money for the winner. There are people from around the world there and it is cost free to join and participate. I do enjoy it quite a lot. Thnx again, Tony

I post quite a few images on Facebook and 2048 pixels is the recommended size there to maintain quality when they downsize them. So, I just find it easier to use that size wherever I upload. Have a look at my Flickr site and you can view images there at full size: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rayallen/
On pentaxforums I provide a link to a specific image size which it clicked on will show the image on Flickr.

Thanks for the info re gurushots. I have heard of it and will take a look.

Okay, so how does one upload directly from camera to here on Canonforums.com? thnx. TT

I would not recommend uploading directly from camera. I have occasionally resized JPGs SOOC but would never upload directly. I always process images in some way and then upload from disk.

I have now reread the post about how to post photos to the forum and will in future upload to Flickr and link to the image there as I do on pentaxforums. That is the third option in that post.

Well, what I have read on Pentaxforums.com, is the size is 1024 X 615, I believe. That is the resolution recommended. Now in Nikonforums.com, we are limited to the same: 1024X615. They will warn a member who goes over the limit. Many members there have not heeded the warnings and eventually ran out of space to upload. Essentially that cancelled their membership. I did make numerous attempts to upload from my Flickr account to Pentaxforums, and all were complete failures. So now I upload from User Forums and then to Photo Sharing. I was uploading to "My Albums" and the problem became worse. According to Adam, there must be something wrong in Photo Editor 10 that is causing the problem. Just have to wait and see. Thnx, Tony
