I’m going on a big road trip! I’m looking into different ways of evaluating my pictures and backing them up while on the road. (I shoot RAW and don't plan on sharing pictures while on the road.)

If I were to use Image.canon for PC with Google Photos, could I batch rename the images and score/rank them? Google Photos looks very limited in capabilities.

Using Google Drive instead of Google Photos...
I don't see a batch rename. And I only see starred or not starred, no multi-star choices like Adobe Bridge has.

The best choice I see right now is to use EOS Utility to name and transfer pictures to laptop, then use Adobe Bridge to evaluate (score/rank) the pics, before uploading to Google Drive.

    Ideas?

    Thanks!

I can't speak to image.canon as i never used it, but I don't expect a google drive option to work well for storage and ranking because it still isnt going to pair with editing software well.

There are options that don't include the laptop, but I agree that dumping on the computer then sorting, ranking and developing all in a streamlined workflow is the best idea. I stopped using bridge over 15 years ago, i was able to rank and sort just as fast with a folder system which worked well for me, this was a few years before adopting Lightroom,

LR may be you best bet, it does what bridge does and most of what Photoshop does. You dump in rank sort and even move files inside it, then you can filter develop and export (or jump to photoshop if needed and come back to lightroom.
Im a big proponent of the LR/PS photo pack from adobe. ans they work very well together.

Honestly unless you have a massive storage in cloud solution i dont see things like google drive working well shooting raw, as the space is limited. I shoot raw and move backups of everything on to external drives, you can get multiple TB of data for dirt cheap.

How big of a piece of your workflow do you want the cloud to be? You could go with the 1tb option and then it can be synced across your phone and Ipad for editing. Drive is great for sharing a folder with someone of your edits.

    Thanks for your reply, Johnsey.

If selected, I would be using the Google Drive just for a month or two and just for storage.
The laptop I’ll be using is an old loaner. All processing will be done on my desktop once I get home.
I like the Adobe products. But, I don’t do enough Photoshop work to justify the monthly subscription for a full year.
