I damaged my lens while traveling and am debating whether it needs to be replaced. It looks like the lens cap came loose in its sleeve and tore a little piece around the perimeter of the lens (see pictured). There does not appear to be any other physical damage and nothing feels loose.

I don't care about the cosmetic damage but would certainly replace the lens if the damage caused any sort of functional deficiency. Any thoughts on whether the damage is enough to cause any sort of performance issues?

I've included some pictures I took after the damage occurred with the lens + my 6D. Doesn't appear to be any image quality issues, but I'm not super knowledgeable and only use my camera casually for traveling.

Looks like at the least you would be susceptible to dust and moisture, so I would put on a UV filter or some other filter at all times. But if the images are sharp I would keep running with it until it gives you problems.

That is only a self adhesive stick on nameplate, won't affect the operation of the lens and can easily be lifted off to straighten it, just lift the edge nearest the glass with a fingernal or a toothpick.
