    It makes more sense after seeing the video. You're in auto exposure mode "P" on the screen and the flashing icon is showing you that you've not...

    If I remember correctly, the battery condition indicator works like this; 3 bars on solid.....fully charged 2 bars on solid.....1/2 charge 1 bar...
