I have seen better examples of these wind blown trees in NZ, but today I saw this one.

Interesting shot, Gary, we get a lot of strong wind here in Tassy, Usually it results in uprooted trees, quite often big gum-trees due to there shallow root systems but I haven't seen any trees like this.
Must have a constant wind to have the tree form like that.

I have seen images of a single tree that looks wind swept. It was a calm day when we were at this location.

It is the first time I had been out that way. The road becomes a 4wd track not far past these trees. So we are going to go back once all of the tourists have gone, and this time the city car will get left at home and our 4wd will be dusted off. It will be interesting to see if there are any better trees along the track.

The idea was there, but with that branch on the top left hand corner, it doesn't add anything to the image. I didn't have my chainsaw with me.

Looking at that piece of wood, its shape would would have some very interesting grain in it.

 

There is so much to see in that image, Gary. Lots of intrigue and interest. The bit of branch at top left is not really distracting as it is not very bright. I see more things each time I look at it.

 

Very much so. Clearly an old tree that has been washed down into a lake, that is what caught my eye.

This stump was at a 45 degree angle, so I thought it would work well as a square crop, and in mono conversion. But I was thinking that if the other branch was not in the top left corner, there would be no shadow on the main part of the image.

Otherwise, I was reasonably happy with the outcome.

A interesting image, I like the difference in textures.
We also have a saying here in Tassy, do not eat the yellow snow.

I like the image Ray, come to think and look at it, reminds me of a big block of chocolate which due to my diabetes I am not allowed to eat.

 

That what this image reminded me as well.

Now that you mention it, yes, it does look like a block of chocolate. When I first saw it (in colour, of course) I thought that has got to look good in mono. I haven't bothered to process it in colour.
